It would be an easy mistake to make to assume that making money online happens minutes after taking action. That is often the impression given by people who are trying to sell you a guide to making money online. Make no mistake it can sometimes happen but in most cases it does not. Building an online business takes time and instant profits are more than likely to instantly disappear when that technique suddenly gets stopped from working when google see there is some loophole being exploited.

If you want to build a business online you should treat it much the same as a real business in the real world and expect it to take some time to grow. Time to build a loyal base of customers who come back to your website to see what new things are on offer whether that is reading articles about marketing and building an online business, as here, or whether you are the online store they like to use to buy all their goods from Amazon or any other product supplier or a product you produce yourself.
If you set up a store in your local street you would be doing quite well to be profitable inside a year. Many small businesses go bust because they run out of money before they have been able to build up their customer numbers because they have rent to pay. Here in internetland things are somewhat different. You have very low costs for your infrastructure. You can set up an online presence for nothing if you are really short of spare cash. You can build an online business as a part time hobby so you are not having to rely on it for paying your mortgage. There is an enormous market out there and you are not limited to people who walk past your store in the street.

So the potential for an online business is enormous. The costs of setting up and running an online business are quite small and you can spend as much or as little time on your business as you choose. It is totally different to a real world business but it can still take time. It takes time to develop your websites and blogs, it takes time to generate visitors to your site and learn how to make them an offer they like. It all takes time but if you get it right things happen much faster.

Will you make a fortune overnight? Probably not. Can you make a lot of money if you stick at it? Probably yes. Will you make a lot of money online? That will depend on what you do, how you do it, when and where you do things and how good you are at doing it.

So the answer is that yes the internet offers an enormous opportunity to just about anyone who is prepared to do some work and the potential is there to build a significant income over a period of time but for most people it does not happen overnight so don't invest all you have in the hope that an overnight get rich internet offer is going to pay your rent next month. It might but it probably won't.
