You may struggle to write posts every day, you may even write several posts every day in the hope that you get to number one in google but if you are targeting the wrong keywords you are probably wasting your time. Pick the right keywords and publish interesting and good quality content that attracts visitors and backlinks and you have cracked it and you will be able to boast to your Internet searching followers, "Don't you love it when you are number one in google?"
Finding the right keywords can make the difference between being number one and number one thousand in the search engines results. The phrase, don't you love it when you are number one in google, has no exact matches, though hopefully it will have this one now.
How many searches do you suppose there are for that phase? Why would anybody type that into a search? So this may prove to be a totally pointless post from the point of view of search engine results but it demonstrates the point that you must research the keywords you are attempting to rank for if you want to get any traffic.
I could comment on blogs, write articles and promote this post until I'm blue in the face but it won't do me a lot of good from a search engine results point of view. It might intrigue a few webmasters who would wonder why on earth anyone would bother trying to rank such a phrase but no normal person is going to search for that phrase.
Take the time to do keyword research before you waste your time working on content for your website that will do nothing except allow you to be able to say to your friends you got to the number one position in the search results. Don't you just love it when you are number one in google? No, not unless it is for something that people are searching for because being number 1 doesn't make you money. Getting real visitors who are looking for what you offer is what makes the effort worthwhile.

When we first start out with the idea we can make money on internet websites we build one or two sites and sit back waiting for the world to come to our door. Sorry to disappoint you but that just ain't gonna happen. There may be the odd exception where something you say or offer attracts some attention and gets picked up by a few popular websites which could mean you could find yourself swamped by traffic but that happens rarely and you are fortunate if you had this happen to you. If it does happen make sure you follow it up by offering more of it on your website.
For the rest of us for whom building and running websites is a more long term way of making money on internet we have to provide something of value to our visitors and offer something that enables us to make money with websites we manage. So, if you want people to come to your website you are going to have to tell the world it exists. You need publicity and that can be in the form of links on other sites or talk about your website on the web and in the real world. When you first start out either of these options seems difficult.
Let's step back for a moment and look at the basics of your website. What have you got to offer there? Why would people want to visit it and what will they do when they get there? You need to offer them something to give them a reason for being there. Do you solve a problem for them? Can you advise them on the best way to do.. something?
You also need to think about why the search engines would rate your site well. Do you have interesting and original content? Is it relevant to what people are searching for? You need to be giving them something of value, as I hope I am doing here by talking about the subject of good quality content for websites. Once you have written, or purchased, a few good quality original articles you can publish them on your website and you will have something of value to offer the visitors when they arrive.
Ok, you have a website with some good quality content that is useful and interesting for your visitors but next you need to think about how you can benefit too. How will you make money from your visitors and earn money with your website?
The first thing most new webmasters want do is add AdSense ads to website. It is easy to sign up for once you have a website with some decent content and you can put AdSense on your website, simple and fast. A lot of the more experienced webmasters might dismiss AdSense but it is perfect for beginners and it can make you some decent money every month once your websites become established and are attracting visitors.
There are various books, ebooks and video guides explaining how to get the best returns from AdSense ads but when you are starting out you just want to get something online. I'll see if I can dig something up later to offer as a gift, or at least very cheap, for my website visitors. I do have various products available to sell or giveaway to help new webmasters develop their knowledge and experience so watch this space and I will make it worth your while visiting. Making money online is simple. All you need is an offer of some sort where people can click an advert or buy a product that makes you a commission and you have made some money but you do need to have your own website to publish these offers on. Actually no, you do not. You can have free web pages and never spend any money at all
If you do have your own website you will need to attract visitors to come to your website and getting that traffic is the main focus of this blog. You can kill two birds with the one stone by publishing a page on one of the many free websites available and get links back to your own website, if you have one, but you can also make some money from the advertising on the free webpage.
Today I want to talk about one of those free websites and it is one of my favorites. You may have heard of Hubpages.com but if not let me tell you it is huge and it is very successful. It is a website set up to enable people like you to publish your own webpages on just about any subject you care to name. You share any revenue with the site owners but the payouts can be pretty good.
You benefit from the fact that there are hundreds of thousands of pages on hubpages.com written by people like you and they are constantly being checked and indexed by the search engines. Any page you put online will probably be checked out by Google and other search engines within minutes of publication.

One of the great benefits of hubs is that providing you stick to their rules and requirements, which are not at all unreasonable, i.e. no dodgy website links or over promotion of products, you can get proper Follow links back to your own websites elsewhere. So you can see that writing your own hubs makes a lot of sense if you have your own websites but it can also be an income source if you have no website and no wish to host your own websites. This makes it an ideal way for anyone to build a part-time income online.
The downside is of course that you don't have any control over the management of the hubpages website but they have been around a few years now and get bigger and better all the time.
